What to Send Us So the First Quote Is Accurate

Most first quotes are re-quoted, and the reason is almost never price - it is that four decisions were still open when the number was calculated. Here is the short list that closes them.

The four decisions that move a price

A quote is a calculation, and every open decision in the brief has to be filled with an assumption before the number can exist. Four of them account for nearly all the movement between a first quote and a final one.

Material specification, not material name. "600D polyester" is a family, not a price. Coating, backing, weight and finish sit inside that name and can move the fabric cost by half.

Construction detail. Whether an edge is bound, folded or piped changes the operation count on the sewing line, and the operation count is the labour cost.

Quantity per colourway, not total quantity. Five thousand pieces in one colour and five thousand across six colours are different jobs, because the second one is six setups and six minimum fabric orders.

Packing and destination. Polybag or gift box, master carton count, and the port decide both the freight and a surprising share of the unit cost.
